I've reset the SMC countless time but the bug remains. I've just upgraded to Big Sur which I resisted for 3 months and the bug is not solved. However if I shut down wait a little, and start again, or if I suspend activity, the fan returns to quiet.

What's funny : if I ask the computer to restart, the fan stay full blast, a hint there must be a problem with the SMC. I've tried using Console to trace what is the process that causes the initial temperature spike to happen, and sofar have no clear culprit. Other temperature sensors (CPU, GPU, DIMM, etc) are kept well within their working range (<40°) This kernel_task won't go away after the temperature is back to normal. These spikes launches a kernel_task process that takes 1000% CPU time and evicts any other job from being done. Istats menu traces it to spikes in temperature on the Power Supply Secondary Heatsink (AC/DC T2 Sec Heatsink) : it goes from 30° to 125° in 10-20 seconds, then usually recedes back to the normal 30°, but the fan stays full blast. sometimes my fans get full blast (3600 rpm) and my Mac becomes totally unresponsive, most of the time requiring a reboot.I have troubles diagnosing it and am wondering what to do next. I've a 27' iMac 2019, and for 3 months I've been plagued with a bug that is happening recurrently, sometimes several times a day.
